World Wickham Day 22 April 2022

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first-ever Wickham rail trolley being despatched from the works in Ware, Hertfordshire, 22 April has been designated "World Wickham Day".

Wickham No. 1 Type 10

Wickham works No.1 was a 3ft 6inch gauge Type 10 Trolley, fitted with a Dorman 4MV engine which was supplied new to the Tal Tal Railway in Chile (operated by a British company). Despatched from the factory in Ware, Hertfordshire on 22 April 1922.

World Wickham Day purpose

To celebrate all things Wickham, not just in the UK but also all over the world, over the last fifteen years the Trust and its predecessor online groups, have built up connections with many owners, operators, restorers, and enthusiasts across the globe.

The aim of the annual World Wickham Day is to get as many individuals and organisations across the globe to post images and articles relating to Wickham made products on their websites and/or social media sites (Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok and others and photo sites (Flickr, SmugMug, ImageShack and any others), using the following hashtags:

#WorldWickhamDay
#WickhamofWare
#WickhamTrolley
#WickhamIndustrial
#TheRailTrolleyTrust

We hope that the first World Wickham Day will not only spread knowledge of this great British company, its history and its products but also draw attention to the UK-based Rail Trolley Trust and be mutually beneficial to everyone who gets involved.
