Permaquip Permaclipper PC017

Adding a Small Track Machine to the Trust’s Fleet

Permaclipper copyright Jacob Johnston 12 July 2022In February this year (2022) we were approached by Bob Foster of B & R Track Services. He advised that they had identified that they no longer required this Permaclipper, which was stored on the Churnet Valley Railway at Cheddleton, and were looking to find a home for it.

The Trust’s Board discussed adding some small track machines to our fleet and agreed this was an obvious next step. So, after some further discussions, Bob very kindly agreed to donate the Permaclipper to the Trust.

On 22nd June 2022, the Permaclipper was moved by Dawson (Structural) Engineering Co. Ltd from Cheddleton to the Tanat Valley Light Railway, near Oswestry to join The Rail Trolley Trust – Shropshire Collection.

We understand the machine stopped being used when it developed an electrical fault which prevented the machine from starting.

The original details of this vehicle were:

  • Permaquip Permaclipper
  • Permaquip Works No. 017
  • Built in 1984
  • Running No. 91637
  • Engine: Lister TL2 Diesel

The Trust have copies of the Operating Instructions and Parts List for both the Mk III & Mk IV in our Technical Library, which will hopefully assist us in restoring this vehicle.

Fund Raising

The Trust has recently launched a significant public fundraising appeal to raise a minimum of £10k and hopefully nearer £20k. This funding will be used to move more of our collection to our two secure locations, provide further suitable storage accommodation for some of our older & more historic vehicles and make some significant progress on several important restoration projects.

Donations can be made as follows:

Direct transfers to our Charity (Business) Account:

Account: The Rail Trolley Trust
Sort Code: 30-98-90
Account No: 17492768

Or otherwise, please give via our Givey account by clicking HERE

The Trust hope to add a charity PayPal account in the coming weeks.

Everyone’s urgent support would be very much appreciated.

Thank You

The Trust would like to thank Bob Foster and B & R Track Services for deciding to gift this vehicle to the Trust.

Also, Dawson (Structural) Engineering Co. Ltd for carrying out the move very professionally and efficiently.
