Motor Trolley System Trackside Sign, Portable Token & Signal Box Token Alarm

The Rail Trolley Trust previously had the Portable Token on loan to us for some years and in Mid - March 202 4, we were contacted by the owner telling us he was looking to dispose of it, along with two other related items which he owned.

As one of the Trust ’s stated aims, is to demonstrate how Trolleys were operated and signalled, it was obvious to us that these items should be added to our collection. A very reasonable price was agreed with he owner and on 28 th March, I collected the other two items.

The trackside sign was immediately dispatched to one of our team and is currently undergoing restoration, as it had suffered quite badly from weather damage over the years.

The other two items will be heading to another member of our team for restoration. We hope in the long term to be able to demonstrate the signalling system along with a replica of a typical “off track” and Token Plug in Point . Further details of this project will be announced in the future once a suitable heritage railway location has been found and the relevant agreements are in place.

Help Needed

If anyone has any experience of these systems, the Trust would be very interested in heari ng from them. If anyone would like to get involved in this project and in restoring these items, then they should also get in contact with the Trust.

Fund Raising

T he Trust continues t o appeal for funds towards the £10k target we set ourselves last year and hopes that as we are able to share more positive news, more donations will be forthcoming to enable us to move more of our collection to our secure locations, provide further suitable storage accommodation for some of our older & more historic vehicles and make some significant progress on several restoration projects.

The Rail Trolley Trust (TRTT) aims to purchase, restore & demonstrate a collection of rail (construction and maintenance) trolleys and similar vehicles, as well as associated equipment and paperwork.
