3 Flat Trolleys donated by Somerset Rail group
Adding to the Trust’s fleet

In August 2018, T he Rail Trolley Trust (TRTT) received a Wickham advertising leaflet (No. 66/2 - Rail Motor
Gang Trolley Types 27 Mk. IV and 27A Mk. IV) from the Somerset & Dorset Railway Trust (S&DRT) as an unsolicited donation to our archives.
This initial gift started communication between the two organisations . With The RTT becoming aware of
these three vehicles from online photos of the S&DRT site at Washford , the two organisations worked
together to try to ascertain their history and how they had come to be there but, unfortunately, we made
little progress.
With the S&DRT vacating the site at Washford, The RTT enquired about the future of these vehicles. The
S&DRT kindly offered to donate them to The RTT and so these vehicles will be leaving Washford and heading
to the RTT Shropshire Collection at the Tanat Valley Light Railway.
All three are four - wheeled unpowered flat trailers with steel frames. One of them has ‘SDJR No. T1’ painted
on the frames. Some of the wheels and axles appear to be of Wickham origin.
Help Needed
The RTT continues t o appeal for funds towards the £10k target we set ourselves last year and hope that as
we are able to share more positive news, more donations will be forthcoming to enable us to move more of
our collection to our secure locations, provide further suitable storage accommodation for some of our older
and more historic vehicles and make some significant progress on several restoration projects.
Donations can be made as follows:
Direct transfers to our Charity (Business) Account:
Account: The Rail Trolley Trust
Sort Code: 30-98-90
Account No: 17492768
Or otherwise, please give via our Givey account by clicking HERE

Everyone’s urgent support would be very much appreciated.
Thank You
The RTT would like to thank the S&DRT for this very generous donation and for ensuring that these vehicles survive and find further use.
